A Curved Upholstered Bed: Checking Headboard Clearance

A curved upholstered headboard can change the space a bed needs behind the mattress. This pale pink bed reference has two shaped headboard sections, a low upholstered surround and an exposed slatted base. For a showroom or bedroom project sample, start by checking how the headboard, mattress and wall position work together.
Record the curved headboard from the side
The photographs show the upper headboard curving away from the base. A front view captures the outline, but the side view is more useful for identifying the space behind it. Include both views in the sample brief and ask for a dimensioned drawing of the proposed configuration.

Use the drawing to mark the full bed envelope on the room plan, including any space the headboard requires behind the mattress. Check that position against bedside furniture, wall fittings and the intended walking route. A mattress size alone does not define the overall footprint.
Confirm headboard movement before planning around it
The reference shows two separate headboard sections. Their appearance does not establish the mechanism, the available positions or the clearance needed to use them. Ask whether the proposed sample includes movement and, if so, request the operating instructions and a demonstration of each agreed position.
For the sample review, record the headboard position used for the room plan. If it moves, check the proposed bed against the wall throughout that movement, with the intended mattress in place. Confirm any restrictions before choosing the final installation position.
Check the bed frame and mattress as a pair
The slats and central frame are visible because the photographed bed has no mattress fitted. That makes this a useful reference for discussing the base, but the photograph does not establish its load rating, spacing requirements or mattress compatibility.
- Mattress fit: record the intended mattress dimensions and thickness, then confirm the proposed internal frame dimensions and the mattress maker’s support requirements.
- Headboard height: review how much headboard remains visible above the selected mattress, including the position used for sitting up.
- Base and supports: request the component layout, support positions and assembly instructions for the actual sample.
- Delivery access: confirm which parts separate for packing and compare the packed dimensions with the route into the room.
Turn the reference into a sample enquiry
When contacting YEINIHOME, attach the selected bed photographs, a room plan and the intended mattress specification. Identify the headboard profile and upholstery colour you want to review, then ask which configuration can be proposed. Confirm the sample specification, inspection scope, quotation and timing in writing before placing the sample order.
Keep upholstery approval separate from the room layout. Compare a labelled physical swatch with the proposed finish, and record the agreed seam and edge details. The pale pink appearance in these photographs is a visual reference; fabric composition and care requirements need their own specification.
Use the bed frame and mattress fit guide to organise dimensions, and the bed slats and centre support guide for the base discussion. The hotel bed sample approval guide covers the wider review before a project order.
Questions before approving the bed sample
Can the headboard be placed directly against a wall?
Confirm the required clearance for the proposed configuration. Use the side drawing and, where applicable, the full movement of the headboard to establish the installation position.
Does the image confirm that both sections adjust independently?
No. Request the specification and a demonstration for the sample being offered, including any operating restrictions.
Is the mattress included with the pictured frame?
The reference photographs show the frame without a mattress. Confirm the scope of supply and the intended mattress specification in the quotation.
