A Winged Bed Sample: Planning Headboard Width and Lamps

Black upholstered bed frame with a wide tufted winged headboard, two pale lampshades and an exposed base

A wide winged headboard needs its own wall layout, separate from the mattress dimensions. This black upholstered bed reference has tall side wings, a tufted central headboard and two lamps positioned at the sides. For a bedroom project sample, review the full width and the proposed lamp arrangement before choosing the final bed position.

Measure the winged headboard across its full width

The headboard extends beyond the mattress area on both sides. Its tall outer panels create a broad backdrop, while the bed surround sits lower in front. Record the entire headboard envelope on the bedroom plan, including its depth and height.

Request a dimensioned drawing for the proposed sample. Compare the outer wings with the available wall space, bedside furniture, curtains and nearby doors. Keep the mattress dimensions as a separate field: they do not describe how much wall the headboard occupies.

Coordinate the lamps with the room plan

Confirm the proposed lamp position, fixing method and scope of supply before finalising the headboard layout.

Two pale lampshades are visible in the reference. The photograph does not establish whether the lamps form part of the bed order, how they are fixed or how power is provided. Resolve those questions in the sample specification rather than treating the reference as a complete installation detail.

On the drawing, mark the proposed mattress top, lamp positions and intended bedside surfaces. Review the arrangement from the position of someone sitting up in bed. Ask how the proposed lamps will be operated and maintained, then coordinate any electrical work with the project team responsible for it.

For a U.S. hotel guest room required to provide mobility features, include the sleeping-area clearances in the room review. The U.S. Access Board provisions for transient lodging guest rooms include bed approach space; ask the project designer to check the applicable layout and exceptions.

Define the sample review before ordering

  • Headboard envelope: check the overall width, wing depth and height against the agreed drawing.
  • Upholstery: compare a labelled physical finish reference with the sample, including the tufting and seam arrangement.
  • Lamp scope: identify whether lamps, fixings and associated components are included, separately supplied or excluded.
  • Mattress and base: confirm the intended mattress dimensions and thickness, the proposed support layout and the scope of supply.
  • Access and assembly: establish how the headboard separates for transport, its packed sizes and the sequence for installation.

The photographed frame has no mattress fitted, so the final relationship between the mattress top and the lamps remains to be checked. A sample review should use the agreed mattress specification when assessing that relationship. Do not infer the filling, upholstery composition or base rating from the visible finish.

Build the enquiry around the wall elevation

When contacting YEINIHOME, send the bed reference, a room plan and a wall elevation showing the available width and nearby fittings. Add the intended mattress specification and state whether the lamps are required. Ask for the proposed headboard configuration and scope of supply, then agree the sample checks, quotation and timing in writing.

Use the bed frame and mattress fit guide for the size discussion, and the bed delivery and installation checklist to review access. Browse the bed and bedroom guides for related project checks.

Questions before approving the bed sample

Does the mattress size define the headboard width?

No. Confirm the overall headboard dimensions, including both wings, on the proposed drawing.

Are the lamps included with the bed?

The photographs do not establish the scope of supply. List the lamps and their associated components explicitly in the quotation.

What needs checking before the headboard is installed?

Review the agreed dimensions, access route, assembly instructions and lamp arrangement with the project team before fixing the installation position.
