An Upholstered Bed Sample: Checking Seams and Lower Trim

Light grey upholstered bed with a rectangular headboard, low surround and exposed support base

A plain upholstered bed makes small finish differences easy to compare. This light grey reference has a broad rectangular headboard, a low surround and a narrow dark line at the base. For a showroom sample, agree how the upholstery, seams and trim will be reviewed before treating the overall appearance as approved.

Separate the fabric reference from the finished bed sample

The photographs show a light, textured upholstery surface. They provide a useful colour direction, but they cannot identify the fibre composition, backing, care method or the exact finish available for a proposed sample.

Request a labelled physical fabric reference and keep it with the agreed specification. Record where it is intended to be used on the headboard and surround. If the surface has a directional appearance, ask how it will run across the different panels before upholstery approval.

Use the corner view to define the finish review

The corner view helps identify the seam, wrapped edge and lower trim to include in the sample review.

The foot corner shows a vertical seam where the upholstered surfaces meet, with a dark strip below the surround. Review those features against agreed reference photographs and the physical sample. Ask for close views of both foot corners so that the review covers the set rather than one selected angle.

Confirm the proposed trim material and finish separately. Its dark appearance does not establish a wood species or other composition. Keep any material description in the quotation specific to the sample being supplied.

Distinguish appearance checks from fabric test evidence

Agree the visible features to be reviewed: seam position, panel alignment, edge shape and the relationship between upholstery and trim. Define any acceptance tolerances with the supplier rather than inventing a universal allowance from the photograph.

For a proposed woven upholstery, the Association for Contract Textiles physical properties guidance includes seam slippage among its assessment topics. A visual sample review does not establish that test result. Request evidence for the actual fabric where it is relevant to the intended application; do not treat a tidy seam as proof of tested durability.

  • Fabric identity: retain the approved reference code and proposed care information.
  • Panel finish: compare the agreed seam placement, fabric direction and corner shape on the sample.
  • Trim: record the material, finish and the visible junction with the upholstery.
  • Inspection record: photograph the reviewed headboard, side rails and both foot corners, and list any changes before approval.

Discuss the finish before the sample order

When contacting YEINIHOME, send the selected grey bed views and identify the seam and dark trim details you want to review. Include the intended mattress specification and use of the room. Ask for the proposed upholstery, trim description and sample inspection scope, then confirm the quotation and timing in writing.

The hotel bed sample approval guide helps organise a project review. Use the bed frame and mattress fit guide for dimensions and browse the bed and bedroom guides for related procurement questions.

Questions before accepting the finish

Can the fabric be approved from the grey colour in the image?

Use the image to select a direction, then compare the proposed physical fabric with a labelled reference under agreed viewing conditions.

Does the dark edge confirm a particular timber?

No. Ask for the proposed trim material and finish in the specification before making that description part of the order.

Does a neat seam establish durability?

No. Record appearance approval separately from any fabric performance evidence requested for the project.

Prepare your upholstered bed finish brief

Send YEINIHOME the reference images and your finish review points through the trade enquiry form. Flag the fabric, corner seams and lower trim as separate items for sample approval.
